Chasing the Light

This is not a specific location, but rather, it is simply prioritising lighting over the backdrop of your wedding photos. You can be in a beautiful place, but if it’s too bright or even too dim, then no one will be able to fully appreciate the backdrop or the people in it (you and your partner). If you can, pick “golden hour” for your wedding photography session which, for photographers, is the time of day during sunrise and sunset when the sun’s hue is softer than it usually is during the day. It is considered the best time to shoot, and may also be the case for you as well!

Things we like:

  • Golden hour is flattering for everyone! We can play with how the light hits your faces, your veil, or even how it creates a silhouette, creating some of the most romantic photos.
  • The softness of photos in this light. Because the sun is softer than it is in the middle of the day, a softness is created in photos, almost giving a natural filter.
  • Warmer colours. If you prefer warmer colours, then shooting at golden hour will give you that naturally with the colours of the sky usually being shades of orange, red, and sometimes purple.
